Srikanth Korra

My agricultural journey began long before my education and career. I was born and raised in a farming family in India, where I witnessed many of the challenges farmers face every day, including soil fertility issues, pests and diseases, floods, droughts, labor shortages, and market uncertainties. Growing up in this environment gave me a deep respect for agriculture and inspired me to help farmers and communities in any way I can.

This passion led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and later a Master’s degree in Plant and Soil Science, where I gained knowledge in crop production, soil management, and sustainable farming practices.

As a Soil Health Technician with Hawaii Institute of Pacific Agriculture (HIP Agriculture), I work as part of the Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) Program, supporting soil health initiatives, field research, data collection, and farmer outreach. I am also involved in biochar production, compost making, and agroforestry management, helping to promote sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices.
